At the company’s GTC Europe event in Munich this week, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang hailed the effect that advances in GPU computing are having not just across the technology industry, but the world as a whole.
The Arctic will house the world's biggest data center

The world's largest data center is set to be built in the Arctic Circle.
Kolos, the firm behind the project, has chosen the site, in the Norwegian town of Ballangen, due to the abundance of local hydropower and the chilled air which will help naturally keep the data center's temperatures low.
Refurbishing servers: 5 great reasons why you need to consider it

If you work in IT solutions as a provider for managed services, cloud services, or internet services you are going to need servers that meet your needs in terms of both price and performance. So how can you keep your costs down and find the solutions that your clients and customers are looking for?
When it’s time to replace your servers, buying refurbished is the obvious solution. Hard on the heels of that thought though is a common fear of zombies -- getting stuck with zombie servers to be more specific. These comatose entities will suck not only your wallet but also your operating budget dry while providing zero value.

What's next for the IBM mainframe?

The IBM mainframe has been a stalwart platform for enterprise computing for the last 50 years. There are not many technologies you can point to that have survived that long and remain a key component of many companies’ IT infrastructure. Its survival should be lauded, but the question remains: "Is it the only game in town for enterprise computing?"
That answer is a resounding "No." The mainframe is a combination of hardware and software that is arguably unique to all other computing offerings available in the marketplace today. That doesn’t make it a bad platform, but it does limit its opportunities for growth. It is a proprietary platform, only available from a single vendor -- IBM.
