The UK government is set to introduce a new Data Protection Bill which will give people the right to demand companies delete personal data. The bill, due to be introduced this summer, will make it easier for people to find out what information is held about them and how it is being used.

Matt Hancock, the Digital Minister, says that the bill amounts to a widescale "right to be forgotten" and it will give people the opportunity to separate themselves from online posts they made when younger. It will also take steps to increase privacy by making it harder for companies to gain permission for limitless access to personal data.

Brexit negotiations could be hit by DDoS attacks

Hackers could use DDoS to disrupt the Brexit negotiations for the UK's leaving the European Union, or use attacks as a distraction technique while they seek to steal confidential documents or data, according to new research.

The study by Corero Network Security polled 100 security professionals at the Infosecurity Europe conference in London and found 57 percent believe Brexit negotiations will be disrupted by DDoS attacks.

Cyber security is more important than Brexit in boardroom talks

Cyber security is a top concern in the boardroom, to the point where it’s a more important issue than Brexit. That's according to a new report from Radware examining the state of cyber security across the US and Europe.

The study shows that in 85 percent of cases security threats are now being discussed on a board level. Almost all of them (94 percent) see cyber security as a top priority, and two thirds (62 percent) see it as "extremely important." This figure is up nine percent, compared to last year.

According to the hiring site's report, the number of foreign tech workers in the UK is now down 50 percent. The rate at which foreign workers are now accepting UK-based roles has also dropped by a fifth (20 percent).
