Microsoft Surface and Huawei MateBook are bullying Apple iPad Pro in Windows 10 video

There is no place for bullying in the world. Schools around the country are teaching this important lesson. When one person is mean to another, that is very bad. When two people join forces to bully someone, it can be even worse -- it is hard to stand up for yourself when you are outnumbered.
When Microsoft ran mean-spirited advertisements against Apple's MacBook, my colleague Mark Wilson took umbrage, calling the ads 'childish and imbecilic'. Today, in an all-new ad, Huawei MateBook is joining the Surface Pro in the Apple-bashing. The personified versions of two Windows 10 tablets come across as bullies, belittling Apple's iPad Pro.
Amazon announces Fire HD 8 with quad-core processor and 12-hour battery life

Today, Amazon reveals details of the latest addition to its Fire range of tablets, the Fire HD 8. As the name would suggest, this is an 8-inch tablet and the key selling point is the fact that it is absolutely dirt cheap.
Of course, this is not its only selling point: there's also 12 hours of battery life -- something which is important for an entertainment-focused device. Much of the hardware has been upgraded from previous models, but it is by no means a powerhouse.
Apple bumps up the iPad's storage, drops Pro prices

Apple yesterday unveiled new iPhones and the Apple Watch Series 2, but did not announce any changes related to the iPad line. Some folks expected it to unveil new models, but the company had other things in mind for its popular tablets.
One of the main changes that Apple introduced with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is the bump in base storage to 32GB, up from the 16GB that previous models shipped with at the entry level. That is a change that Apple has quietly applied to the iPad line too, along with a drop in price for the Pro models.
ARCHOS 133 Oxygen is an affordable 13.3-inch FHD Android tablet

Interesting Android tablets are becoming increasingly rare nowadays. Consumers seem fatigued by the overwhelming number of low-quality tablets on the market. Understandably, large-screen smartphones have likely stolen some of the thunder too.
Today, ARCHOS announces a tablet that is fairly generic and underwhelming in most of its specifications. For instance, there is no USB-C here. Dubbed the "133 Oxygen", there are two aspects that make the otherwise lackluster device intriguing, however. What are they? A large 13.3-inch 1080p display and an affordable price. The 10,000mAh battery doesn't hurt either.
Syncwire's four-port USB charger is great for traveling [Review]

Multiport USB chargers are great for topping up the battery on a couple of mobile devices at the same time when you are on the go. They do not take much space in a bag, only require a single wall socket, and support a wide range of smartphones and tablets. Some are better than others though.
Syncwire's four-port USB charger is designed with travelers in mind. The main benefits, over many other multiport USB chargers that you can find, are the included travel adapters that allow it to be used with US, UK, and EU sockets and its cord-free design that allows it to be plugged right in and take up even less space.
Android 7.0 Nougat tells iPhone switchers how to migrate their data

Switching from an iPhone to an Android smartphone can be quite daunting, which is why two years ago Google created an online guide to help users migrate important data, like contacts, photos, and music. And it has left it at that, leaving it to iPhone switchers to find it on their own.
But, as you may know, newer versions of Android have made it easier for users to move their data from another Android device and now, with the introduction of Nougat, those wanting to migrate content from an iPhone or iPad are getting a dedicated import option too, while setting up their new device.
Barnes and Noble 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A NOOK Android tablet is a great value

Barnes and Noble's color-screen NOOK tablets are really just repurposed Samsung Android devices. You know what? That is totally fine. Heck, B and N doesn't even try to hide it. While the company could go the route of Amazon and produce its own hardware and operating system, many consumers don't really want that. Without the Google Play Store, an Android tablet is largely a big disappointment.
Today, Barnes and Noble announces the latest such NOOK Android tablet, which is based on the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A. While not a top of the line tablet by any means, it is affordable, and overall, a damn good value. Existing NOOK tablet owners can even get a substantial discount when upgrading.
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 ad implies iPad Pro is not a 'computer'

Apple and Microsoft target the same crowd with the iPad Pro and Surface Pro 4, but they go about it from totally different directions. The former has repurposed a consumer-oriented platform to handle the heavier loads required by prosumers while the latter has tweaked its full-fledged PC operating system to work on a tablet touted to be a laptop replacement.
It is this difference in approach which has proven controversial and, to stir the pot once more, Microsoft has released a new Surface Pro 4 ad to suggest that it is a real "computer" while the iPad Pro is basically nothing more than a glorified iPad with keyboard support. Surprised?
Logitech releases Logi CREATE keyboard for Apple iPad Pro 9.7

Tim Cook has been pushing the iPad Pro as a desktop/laptop replacement. You know what? He isn't wrong. Well, depending on a user's needs, of course. For many people, it just won't work -- Windows, Ubuntu, or OS X would be better. If all you do is surf the web, go on social media, or leverage a word processing app, it can be quite brilliant. Heck, it can even succeed at editing both photos and videos if your expectations aren't too high.
With all of that said, the tablet on its own is hardly a productivity workhouse without an important accessory -- a keyboard. Can you buy Apple's keyboard cover? Yeah, and it is pretty good, but many consumers prefer Logitech's Logi CREATE variant instead. Unfortunately, the backlit keyboard is only available for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Today, this changes, as the company releases the keyboard for the 9.7-inch variant too.
BQ's Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition is an underwhelming tablet [Review]

As employees have become more and more flexible in recent years thanks to the power and performance of mobile devices, the way we work has changed dramatically.
We frequently chop and change between smartphones, tablets and laptops for different tasks, which has led to the growth of the hybrid market -- devices such as Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 and Apple’s iPad Pro -- that provide the power and functionality of a laptop with the mobility and convenience of a tablet.
Google brings add-ons to Docs and Sheets on Android

With a desktop word processor and spreadsheet, you have great power to create a range of documents. The move to the cloud and mobile means that popular Office suites have been ported to mobile platforms, and this usually means missing out on key features -- like add-ons.
Today, this changes as Google has announced that Android add-ons for Docs and Sheets are now available. This means that Google's mobile office tools can be extended with add-ons like DocuSign, Scanbot and Zoho CRM.
Chuwi Vi10 Plus tablet includes Windows 10 and Android for an incredibly low price

A few months back, we took a look at the Chuwi Hi12, a low-cost tablet that we compared to the Surface Pro 4 and iPad Pro. Now the company has released a slightly smaller -- and even cheaper -- model, the Chuwi Vi10 Plus.
With a 10.8-inch screen, the Chuwi Vi10 Plus is available in two variations. The first model comes with Android-based Remix OS 2.0 installed, while the second is a dual boot unit that has both Windows 10 and Remix OS 2.0 installed.
KAPOW! Bubble Zoom in Google Play Books means better support for comics

If you use your Android smartphone or tablet to read comics, your reading experience is about to get a whole lot more enjoyable. An update to Google Play Books sees the introduction of Bubble Zoom, a feature announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2016.
It uses image recognition technology to identify speech bubbles and automatically enlarge the text of each, one at time as you tap. To celebrate, Google is offering 50 percent off certain DC Comics and Marvel comics.
Older Brits like to shop on tablets

Tablets might have a rough time ahead of them, but if you ask UK’s consumers, aged 55 and above, they’re quite nice to use for shopping.
That’s according to a new report by Bronto Software, which says that twice as many people in this age group (22 percent) use tablets for shopping, compared to their US (11 percent) and Australian (11 percent) peers. The UK has more tablets (60 percent), compared to the US (57 percent) or Australia (54 percent), and Brits use it for shopping more frequently (34 percent) compared to these two countries (25 percent and 19 percent, respectively).
Dell waves goodbye to Android tablets, will focus on hybrid devices

While tablet sales still generate considerable revenue, the market as a whole is in decline. Industry analysts like IDC place the drop in shipments for last year in the double digits, and things do not seem to be getting better in 2016 either. This is a worrisome trend for vendors, as there is apparently nothing that can stop the bleeding. That is if we do not count hybrid devices, which seem to be catching on based on the growing sales of the Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface lines.
Dell has put two and two together, announcing that it is discontinuing its Android-powered Venue tablet line The company is not getting out of the slate market altogether, as it says that the focus from now on is on two-in-one, or hybrid, devices.
