OnePlus One gets Cyanogen 12 software update, Yu Yureka to receive it soon
The OnePlus One smartphone has finally started to receive the Cyanogen software update. On a blogpost, the software maker announces that the OnePlus One handset is the first smartphone to snag the Cyanogen update. The Yu Yureka smartphone will be receiving the update soon, the company notes.
Cyanogen 12 is built on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop with some exclusive software features -- such as App Themer that lets you change style system-wide -- and many software tweaks. The build also brings with it the company’s new email app. The update is rolling out over the air.
"We’re also excited to debut the new Cyanogen email, powered by Boxer. The premium version of Boxer comes free to all Cyanogen OS users. This new email experience provides sweet benefits that were previously missing from the built-in mail app.", the company notes on a blog post. "Enjoy Exchange support, multiple account integration, and canned responses for quick replies. Boxer has added great customization bells and whistles - select a different LED color for email notifications, and choose what happens when you swipe left or right on a message. We think you’ll enjoy the level of customization and choice you have with the new Cyanogen email".
OnePlus One users also have the option to download and install Oxygen OS update on their smartphone. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer had earlier this month released Android Lollipop-based Oxygen OS update. While the software was released for OnePlus One Indian variant, it works just fine with the global variant of One as well.
For Indian users, OnePlus had confirmed last month that they will also be receiving the Cyanogen 12 software update. But this is likely the last software update they will be receiving from Cyanogen. Between the two, we would suggest you to go for Cyanogen's software update as it is probably more stable and has better features.
