WTF?! Twitter saw a significant rise in swearing following Trump's win in US election
If you spend a lot of time on social networks like Facebook and Twitter, you probably thought Hillary Clinton was a shoo-in for president, and that Donald Trump had next to no chance of beating her.
As my colleague Ian Barker explains, social networks can create something of a bubble, that pops when the real world intrudes, as it did in both Brexit and the US election.

Inevitably, the news that Donald Trump had won and was now president-elect really did surprise and shock a lot of people on Twitter yesterday, and thanks to social analytics firm Sysomos, we get a small insight into just how astonished Twitter users were.
As you can see from the graph below, the news was greeted in typical Twitter fashion, with the number of WTF’s issued rising dramatically yesterday as the news broke.
The number of F-bombs dropped as a response similarly shot through the roof.
It’s hard to believe the anticipated Clinton victory would have generated quite the same response…
