Enterprises increase their SaaS usage but neglect security risks

A new study of SaaS usage among enterprises across the US, UK and Europe shows 74 percent report more than half of their applications are now SaaS-based, and 66 percent are spending more on SaaS applications today than a year ago.

The study by cybersecurity asset management company Axonius shows the increase in SaaS applications has resulted in more complexity and increased security risk in 66 percent of organizations, but 60 percent rank SaaS security fourth or lower on their list of current security priorities, and only 34 percent say they're worried about the costs associated with rising SaaS-based app usage.

74 percent say iPaaS is a key factor for competitiveness

Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) is the most important factor in competitiveness, say 74 percent of companies in a new survey.

The research, carried out by Forrester Consulting for Celigo, also shows that 67 percent of respondents from organizations that don't have iPaaS say a lack of visibility into the data needed to make real-time decisions and a lack of data integrity due to manual data entry, delays, incompleteness and errors are major challenges of their firms' current SaaS landscapes.

Cloud helps businesses achieve sustainable growth

According to a new report, 60 percent of IT decision makers say cloud capabilities have been pivotal to helping their organization grow.

The study by Foundry finds this number increases to 64 percent for enterprises and 58 percent for SMBs. Software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies saw their revenue growth slow by 46 percent in 2021 compared to 2020, according to a study released today by payments infrastructure firm Paddle.

Thanks to increased demand for software tools as businesses accelerated their digital transformations and shifted to remote working amid the pandemic, SaaS businesses’ revenue soared on average by 78 percent in 2020.
