OpenAI launches bug bounty program to help boost ChatGPT security
As the world goes crazy for AI, many are voicing concerns about the numerous artificial intelligence systems that are rapidly gathering fans. ChatGPT is one of the tools that has exploded in popularity, and now OpenAI, the company behind the system, has launched a bug bounty program to help track down flaws and problems.
The company is calling on "the global community of security researchers, ethical hackers, and technology enthusiasts" to unearth vulnerabilities, bugs and security flaws. With the OpenAI Bug Bounty Program, it is possible to earn anything from $200 to $20,000 for sharing discoveries, with the size of the payment being dependent on the severity of the problem found.
Microsoft updates Windows Subsystem for Android on Windows 11 with picture-in-picture support
For anyone looking to run Android apps and game within Windows 11, Windows Subsystem for Android is a fabulous, and free, alternative to the various emulators that are available. In a new update to the compatibility layer, Microsoft has added support for picture-in-picture mode.
P-in-P is only available in apps that explicitly support it -- the update to Windows Subsystem for Android does not add it to other apps -- and it is something that will serve as an aid to multi-tasking.
Microsoft is adding ChatGPT support to PowerToys for AI-powered searches
Having just added a registry editing tool to PowerToys, Microsoft is now working on the practically inevitable -- adding ChatGPT support to the utility collection.
This will not take the form of a dedicated new module, rather it will be a plugin. Specifically PowerToys' AI-driven ChatGPT functionality will come courtesy of a PowerToys Run plugin that is currently in development. It is a move that neatly integrates the power of ChatGPT into Windows 10 and Windows 11.
New Companion Mode lets you use WhatsApp on more than one phone
If you have ever wanted to use WhatsApp on two or more phones, you will have been disappointed. While Meta has made it possible to be signed into a single WhatsApp account across multiple devices for a while, only one of them can be a phone; the others can be laptops or desktops running the app, or a device signed into the web version of WhatsApp.
But now this is changing. After a period of testing with a small number of users, WhatsApp is now rolling out Companion Mode more widely. This is a new feature that lets you sign into your account on multiple mobiles -- in fact you can use the same account on up to four phones if you want.

Microsoft has released the cumulative KB5025239 update for Windows 11 22H2, bringing with it not only security and bug fixes, but also general improvements and new features.
Among the highlights are the addition of the new Windows Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) as a Windows inbox feature. This update also adds new notifications about Microsoft account to the Start menu, improves Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and provides easy access to the Bing chat experience in Microsoft Edge via the taskbar.
Microsoft is changing the function of the Print Screen key in Windows 11
Microsoft is not shy about introducing controversial changes to its software, even if feedback forces it to reverse course further down the line. Windows 11 has seen a huge number of modifications, not all of which have proved popular, and a proposed change to the functionality of a key in Windows 11 is likely to be a divisive move.
The key in question the Print Screen (or Prt Scr and numerous other variations) which currently takes a screenshot and copies it to the clipboard. But in the latest builds of Windows 11, pressing the key does something different by default.
Microsoft is making it easier to terminate unresponsive apps in Windows 11 with new End Task option
Use Windows 11 for long enough, and you will almost certainly encounter an app that becomes unresponsive. And when an app freezes, you're likely to find that it misbehaves to the point that it is not possible to close it in the usual way.
When this happens, you may well fire up Task Manager, locate the troublesome app or process in the list and terminate it. But to help optimize this unnecessarily lengthy process, Microsoft is introducing a new End Task option that can be accessed from the Windows 11 taskbar.
The roll out of integrated AI image generator to all Microsoft Edge users begins
Microsoft has started the rollout of Edge Image Creator to all users. Continuing its love affair with all things related to artificial intelligence, the company's in-browser AI image generator is powered by OpenAI's DALL-E.
Rolling out the tool to Edge comes just a few weeks after Microsoft announced the launch of Bing Image Creator in the preview version of the browser and the new Bing. It means that everyone running the desktop version of Edge will have access to Image Creator.
Microsoft bows to feedback and reverses Quick Access Toolbar changes in Office
Microsoft has acknowledged that changes to the Quick Access Toolbar in Office were "disruptive and slowed […] workflow. Having used the Microsoft 365 Visual Refresh to hide the QAT toolbar by default and move various commonly used button, the company has listened to user feedback ad reversed its changes.
Among the complaints that ultimately forced Microsoft to perform the U-turn were criticism of the decision to relocate the Undo and Redo buttons. In announcing the about-face, the company does not really admit to making a misstep, merely that the previous change "wasn't quite right".

Outlook users face email issues as Microsoft starts using OneDrive cloud storage space for email attachments
If you are having trouble sending and receiving email via your Outlook.com account, you are not alone. Problems have started to surface following a recent policy change by Microsoft that means email attachments now eat into OneDrive storage limits -- as we reported previously.

MSI urges caution when downloading BIOS and firmware updates following cyberattack and rumors of $4 million ransom demand
Computer maker MSI has confirmed that it fell victim to a security breach, confirming rumors that sprang up in recent days. The Taiwanese company says that it "suffered a cyberattack on part of its information systems", and has warned customers to exercise caution when downloading BIOS and firmware updates for its products.
Although MSI has shared little in the way of detail about the incident, the confirmation comes after the ransomware group Money Message was said to have breached the company's defenses. The group has made demands for $4 million with the threats of leaking stolen files.
Microsoft advises some Windows 10 users of impending automatic update ahead of end of service
Microsoft has issued a reminder to users of certain versions of Windows 10 that their operating system will reach end of serving in mid-June.
The announcement applies to the Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations editions of Windows 10 21H2, and when June 13 rolls around no more monthly security updates will be issued. Microsoft says that in order to ensure protection, users will be automatically updated to a supported version of Windows.
HP could take up to three months to patch a critical vulnerability in HP Enterprise LaserJet and HP LaserJet Managed printers
HP has issued a security warning about a vulnerability which affects numerous HP Enterprise LaserJet and HP LaserJet Managed printers. The flaw is tracked as CVE-2023-1707 is described as "critical" having been assigned a CVSS rating of 9.1.
Despite the severity of the bug -- which HP says could lead to "information disclosure when IPsec is enabled with FutureSmart version 5.6" -- it could take up to 90 days to issue a fix. However, the company has provided a temporary firmware mitigation.
