Spotify's new AI Playlist feature adds an AI component to the creation of playlists on the site. All it takes is to feed the AI some text and it does the rest.
Feed it "sing along songs while riding on a pony in Colorado", "songs while waiting for the microwave to go 'ping'", or "songs for boring bus rides in downtown LA", and you should get a list of matching music almost instantly.

Despite what some might think, no, bots probably won't come looking for your job, but they may well attack your intellectual property. Generative AI (GenAI) has become a transformative technology for businesses in more ways than one.
In 2024, its widespread adoption will undoubtedly have an impact on organizations across all industries, resulting in increased productivity and efficiency. However, GenAI can be a double-edged sword. Organizations need to tread carefully when assessing organization security risk, especially when it comes to data protection.
Microsoft is arrogantly giving Copilot greater prominence than your notifications in Windows 11

Microsoft is ramming Copilot further down the throats of Windows 11 users in the latest push of its AI-driven assistant.
The company is so eager for people to take notice of Copilot, that the company has elevated the tool so it is more prominent than important notifications. The change is seen in Windows 11 build 26100 as well as Windows 11 version 23H2 where the gesture previously used to access notifications now calls up Copilot instead.
Five ways AI can boost your data backups

In the event of a data emergency -- say, a cyber attack or a natural disaster shutting down a data center -- no organization wants to worry about whether they have secure, up-to-date backups, and whether they can be easily recovered.
But without the help of artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML), fewer organizations are able to protect their backups against attacks, meet the necessary backup workload, or meet the defined service level agreements (SLAs) for the availability of information, applications, and infrastructures (or do so quickly and recover efficiently).

Google may lock AI search results behind a paywall

![AI search](https://betanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/AI-search-150x150.jpg)
Aa a company synonymous with search and a love of AI, it is little surprise that Google is combining the two. But people familiar with the company’s plans suggest that AI-powered search features could have a price tag attached to them.
The move would be a first for Google as the company has never charged for any search product, and it could be a sign that ads are simply not bringing in enough money. It is something that has been described as a big change to its business model, but it is not clear if this is a sign of further search-related charges to come.

As the year draws to a close, it is of great value to reflect upon the last 12 months, particularly in assessing what has proven effective in light of newly introduced tools like generative AI-powered solutions. Gen AI has been a prominent theme this year, and organizations across industries are actively exploring its potential. Numerous companies are not only using popular gen AI tools, but also many are creating their own custom gen AI tools. In fact, the latest reports suggest that the gen AI market is poised for remarkable growth, with projections indicating it could reach an astounding $1.3 trillion by 2032.
McKinsey's findings reveal that commercial leaders are allocating more than 20 percent of digital budgets to gen AI, underscoring their pioneering role in pushing for adoption as a tool for company-wide implementation. This push can be good news for marketing teams. Marketers in particular find themselves at the threshold of transformative possibilities with AI tools for content creation. These AI-powered solutions offer the promise of streamlining content creation, making it faster and more precise. Marketers can harness the capabilities of AI to generate compelling visuals, craft persuasive messaging, and tailor content to specific audiences with unprecedented precision. Let’s dive into specific areas where gen AI has benefited the role of marketers and creatives.

We spoke to voice AI industry expert PolyAI's co-founder and CEO, Nikola Mrkšić, to discuss how the technology is shaping customer service and reducing costs, as well as where generative AI tools fit into the picture.
Preparing for potential regulations around AI in electronic bill payment and presentment

The speed with which enterprise-level artificial intelligence has moved from the realm of theoretical -- if not outright science fiction -- to a widely adopted business tool has been nothing short of astonishing. The mad dash to find and implement applications for new, AI-based solutions is reminiscent of the rapid ascension of cloud technology in both fervor and consistency: the race to the cutting edge is taking place across industries.
Where sectors differ is in the level of caution they’re bound by their respective norms and requirements to apply in the process. While those in all industries ought to approach new technologies and tools with healthy prudence, in my personal opinion (and I am not an attorney), those of us in the electronic bill payment and presentment (EBPP) space must additionally consider the regulations that govern individuals’ privacy and the security of their data when it comes to something as private as their finances.

There is just about no field of technology that is not somehow being enhanced by artificial intelligence. Microsoft has already shown its own love of AI by introducing it to various aspects of Windows and other products, and the latest release from the company is .NET Smart Components.
These are described as "AI-powered UI controls" that Microsoft says can be quickly and easily add to .NET apps. Billed, unsurprisingly, as "genuinely useful", the company says the components remove the need to "spend weeks of dev time redesigning your UX or researching machine learning and prompt engineering".
Communications service providers see Gen AI as critical but are slow to implement it

A new study shows 90 percent of communications service providers (CSP) see the profound impact Gen AI will have on business goals. However, deployment of GenAI is still in its preliminary stages, with just 22 percent of CSPs having already implemented solutions.
Research by Analysys Mason for Amdocs shows Gen AI is expected to have a high impact across a variety of areas, such as software development (84 percent), data management (82 percent), monetization (82 percent) and network operations (81 percent).

Underperforming AI models, which are built using inaccurate or low-quality data, are resulting in misinformed business decisions.
A study for Fivetran, conducted by Vanson Bourne, polled 550 from organizations with 500 or more employees and finds that on average they lose six percent of their global annual revenues, or $406 million, to poor AI models.
