Corel Preps Launch of Graphics Suite 12

Corel is putting the finishing touches on its upcoming CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12. Next month, Corel will ship the suite of three integrated graphics applications combined with additional tools, tutorials and utilities licensed through its partners.

With this release, Corel intends to save designers time by reducing the amount of clicks and steps needed to accomplish assignments. The final shrink-wrapped product is expected to reach stores in mid February.

Graphics Suite 12 lassos together CorelDRAW 12 for illustration, page-layout and vector drawing; Corel PHOTO-PAINT 12 for digital imaging; and Corel R.A.V.E. 3 for motion-graphics creation. Many time-saving enhancements have been introduced such as new dynamic guides, smart drawing tools and a touch-up brush.

Dynamic guides are temporary "wizards" that can be pulled from object snap points in drawings to assist designers. Smart drawing tools borrow from Corel's Grafigo application to automatically recognize many objects and shapes - thus drawing them more accurately without the need to be precise.

Corel's Snap to Objects feature has been enhanced in version 12 to enable objects to be created and modified in relation to one another. Touch-up brush early reactions remove defects in images, and allow the user to see the effects in real time. Other improvements include the ability to export to Microsoft Office and Unicode text support.

"This new suite introduces a level of performance that goes beyond anything that users of any other graphics program have seen before," said Brett Denly, Executive Vice President of World Wide Marketing at Corel. "CorelDRAW Graphics Suite now responds in ways never before possible. It builds a deeper partnership between designers and their tools – providing software that intelligently interprets and reacts to the user's needs."

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12 retails at $399 USD for a full install and $179 USD for upgrades. Educational pricing is set at $99 USD. The suite runs on the Windows platform and is available in English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese language versions.

More information is available at Corel's official preview site.
