Half of consumers experience AI bias

Although 75 percent of people think chatbots are getting better at managing toxic or inaccurate responses, 50 percent have still experienced bias and 38 percent have seen inaccuracies, according to a new report.

The survey of over 6,300 global consumers, software developers and digital quality testing professionals, carried out for testing and digital quality company Applause, finds 91 percent of respondents have used chatbots to conduct research, and 33 percent of those use them for research daily.

Microsoft launches .NET Smart Components to give developers AI-powered UI controls

There is just about no field of technology that is not somehow being enhanced by artificial intelligence. Microsoft has already shown its own love of AI by introducing it to various aspects of Windows and other products, and the latest release from the company is .NET Smart Components.

These are described as "AI-powered UI controls" that Microsoft says can be quickly and easily add to .NET apps. Billed, unsurprisingly, as "genuinely useful", the company says the components remove the need to "spend weeks of dev time redesigning your UX or researching machine learning and prompt engineering".

Communications service providers see Gen AI as critical but are slow to implement it

A new study shows 90 percent of communications service providers (CSP) see the profound impact Gen AI will have on business goals. However, deployment of GenAI is still in its preliminary stages, with just 22 percent of CSPs having already implemented solutions.

Research by Analysys Mason for Amdocs shows Gen AI is expected to have a high impact across a variety of areas, such as software development (84 percent), data management (82 percent), monetization (82 percent) and network operations (81 percent).

Enterprises lose millions each year due to poor AI models

Underperforming AI models, which are built using inaccurate or low-quality data, are resulting in misinformed business decisions.

A study for Fivetran, conducted by Vanson Bourne, polled 550 from organizations with 500 or more employees and finds that on average they lose six percent of their global annual revenues, or $406 million, to poor AI models.

New research for supply chain solutions company Cleo, based on a study carried out by Dimensional Research, shows 30 percent of companies plan to use trending technologies like artificial intelligence and automation to better meet supply-chain related business commitments.

77 percent of companies have seen breaches in their AI
