Huawei Mate 10 Pro flagship Android smartphone finally coming to USA

When you think of elegant computers and devices, your mind probably goes to Apple, and rightfully so. After all, the iPhone-maker has long pioneered the concept of technology being more than just function. With Apple, exterior design is equally as important as the internals. The first iMac, for instance, showed that a computer could be more than a beige tower.
Nowadays, there are many other companies that focus on external beauty, but one in particular really shines in this regard -- Huawei. That manufacturer sells elegant phones, tablets, computers, and more. Its previously announced Mate 10 Pro had many people drooling (including yours truly), but tragically, it was not available in the USA. Today, however, Huawei announces that the much anticipated smartphone is finally coming to the country sandwiched between Mexico and Canada.

Huawei unveils Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro flagship Android 8.0 Oreo smartphones

If you are a fan of Android smartphones, this is surely an exciting time to be alive. While things have been boring for the last few years, 2017 has given us many excellent flagships. There is the Google Pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy Note8, Essential Phone, LG v30, and more. It sounds crazy to say, but there is almost too much choice when it comes to wonderful Android phones!
Today, the market gets a bit more crowded (in a good way), as Huawei officially unveils the 5.9-inch Mate 10 and 6-inch Mate 10 Pro flagship Android smartphones. The company will even sell an elegant Porsche Design variant of the Mate 10 -- for a huge premium of course. Not only are these devices chock-full of top specifications, but they are very beautiful too. All models feature a glass body, a front fingerprint reader, huge 4000 mAh fast-charge battery, and the Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 operating system.
Huawei's new Honor 7X comes with dual camera and edge-to-edge screen

Huawei has gained serious ground in the smartphone market this year, threatening Apple's position as the second-largest player. This is due, in part, to the success of its Honor brand, which gives consumers value-focused smartphones, like the Honor 8 and Honor 6X.
Today, Huawei introduces a new model in the Honor line, the Honor 7X. It's perhaps its most attractive one yet, featuring a large edge-to-edge screen, solid internals and a dual camera at a highly attractive price.
What is Huawei's boundless computing concept about?

In a world where more and more things are becoming smarter and more connected, the need for solid, reliable infrastructure to support this has become paramount. The HPC (high-powered computing) industry will play a vital role in providing this support, supplying the hardware needed to ensure that all the world’s vital systems remain online, all the time.
Huawei has been investing heavily in the HPC market in recent months, with the company’s standalone cloud computing division growing rapidly since its launch in 2015. However the company is now looking forward to the next step beyond, and has coined a new term to cover this -- what it calls "boundless computing."
Huawei announces Enterprise Intelligence service

Huawei has revealed a new cloud platform that it says will go a long way towards making the world a smarter and more connected place.
At the Huawei Connect 2017 event in Shanghai, the company showed off its all-new Enterprise Intelligence (EI) service, which should allow enterprises to adopt new and more powerful digital solutions quicker than ever before.
Microsoft enterprise apps will arrive on Huawei Cloud

Huawei has revealed a new tie-up with Microsoft as it looks to improve the world of public cloud.
At the Huawei Connect 2017 event in Shanghai today, the Chinese giant has confirmed it will expanding its partnership with Microsoft to allow the latter's enterprise apps to come to Huawei Cloud.
Huawei sells more smartphones than Apple

With a couple of notable exceptions, Apple consistently ranks as the second largest smartphone manufacturer based on sales. It's something that we've become accustomed to. No other vendor, except Samsung, has managed to beat it.
Well, until now, that is. According to a new report from Counterpoint, Apple was overtaken by Huawei, which posted a very strong performance towards the second half of the year.

Want to download Huawei EMUI images? Tough... they've vanished!

Out of the blue, and without a proper explanation, Huawei has pulled EMUI images from its websites. Anyone looking for a ROM for their smartphone is now out of luck.
Although the Chinese company makes reference to wanting to give users a "more convenient and satisfactory update service," it's not really clear what this means in practice. The images could appear on a new dedicated site, but for the moment Huawei is remaining tight-lipped about what's going on.

Huawei MateBook line of Windows 10 devices available for pre-order starting tomorrow

My favorite Windows 10 device of 2016 was the Huawei MateBook. Much like the Surface Pro, it is a tablet that can become a laptop with an optional keyboard purchase. While it was less powerful than Microsoft's offering, it was also less expensive. For basic needs, such as web surfing and word processing it was an absolutely fabulous value. Despite the meager internal specs, Huawei made the device feel premium with a beautiful outward design and the addition of USB-C (something no Surface has).
Last month, Huawei announced that it would expand the MateBook line beyond a single tablet to a total of three distinct machines -- MateBook X, MateBook E, and MateBook D. The "E" variant is the successor to the aforementioned tablet (which now comes with the keyboard), while the X and D are traditional 13 and 15.6-inch laptops, respectively. Sadly, exact availability and pricing for the USA was unknown. Today this changes, as Huawei not only reveals cost and pre-order date, but configuration options too.
Huawei Watch 2 Classic Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch now available in USA

While smartwatches aren't exactly lighting the world on fire as many manufacturers had hoped, it is still a fairly respectable segment. Let's face it, as the smartphone and tablet markets reach full saturation in the USA, companies will turn to things like wearables to hopefully make up for it.
Huawei is one such company that is focusing on smartwatches, but it is also expanding into Windows PCs too. The manufacturer focuses on a wise combination of value and elegance, producing desirable products at affordable prices. Today, Huawei announces that its Watch 2 Classic Android Wear smartwatch is finally available in the USA. The device has a 390x390 AMOLED screen and can play locally-stored music from Google Play. It of course has GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
Huawei Honor 8: Impressive, but lacks appeal [Review]

The Honor 8 Pro is the latest premium smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer, best known as an offshoot of tech titan Huawei.
The company has grown hugely in the past few years as it looks to offer customers an alternative to the typical Apple or Samsung handsets, offering powerful hardware at a more affordable price.
Huawei unveils MateBook X, MateBook E, and MateBook D Windows 10 devices

Last year, Huawei released its first-ever Windows 10 device -- the MateBook. The tablet/laptop hybrid was a bit underpowered, but had incredible build quality and a gorgeous screen. It also had solid speakers and a fast fingerprint reader. Overall, I picked it as my favorite Windows 10 device of 2016. Today, Huawei unveils its successor -- the MateBook E. It isn't a radical redesign, which is a good thing.
The company is not stopping there, however, as it also announces two new MateBook computers which are traditional laptops -- the "X" and "D". The former is a very svelte and elegant 13-inch Ultrabook, while the latter is a larger 15.6-inch laptop.
