Windows 10 Fall Creators Update rebranded Autumn Creators Update for some

Windows 10 box

The upcoming Redstone 3 release of Windows 10 has been known as the Fall Creators Update for some time now -- but in some parts of the world this name sounds nonsensical. While fall is the season that follows summer in many countries, it's not the case worldwide.

It is for this very reason that the update will bear a different name in a number of countries including the UK, Australia, New Zealand and India. Come September, Windows 10 users in these nations will be installing Windows 10 Autumn Update.

Microsoft releases huge Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Build 16215 -- and it's well worth the wait

happy customer

It’s been nearly three weeks since Microsoft last rolled out a new Windows 10 build to Insiders on the Fast ring. Well, three weeks if you don’t count the buggy, chaos-causing internal Build 16212 which leaked out last week.

But today the wait for a new update is over, as Build 16215 comes to the Fast ring, and the good news is this release is definitely worth your attention, not least because it introduces new UI for both the Start and Action Center that makes use of Microsoft's new Fluent Design System. The software giant describes this as "an eloquent design system for a complex world," and we explained all about it here.

Microsoft brings Fluent Design System's acrylic material to the Windows Store in Windows 10

When Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is released later in the year, it will be the first glimpse many users get of Microsoft's new Fluent Design System. But Windows Insiders can already enjoy the new look, and an update to the Windows Store sees the app getting an acrylic makeover.

Formally known as Project NEON (when we were still talking about Redstone 3 builds), the Fluent Design System sees Microsoft bringing elements of Glass and Aero back to life. The acrylic material, specifically, refers to the blurring of backgrounds, and if you're an Insider on the Fast Ring, you can grab an update to check it out for yourself.

How to remove the People button from the taskbar in Windows 10 Redstone 3

So far there is not very much to get overly excited about in the Redstone 3 builds of Windows 10 that are creeping out, but there are new additions nonetheless. Build 16184, for instance, sees the arrival of the My People app and with it the addition of a new button in the taskbar.

Nestling to the left of the clock you will notice a monochrome icon featuring the outline of two people -- the People Bar. Click it, and you can use the My People app to gain easy access to contacts and keep an eye on conversations in Skype and Mail. But you may not want this clutter in your taskbar; here’s how to remove it.

Microsoft releases Windows 10 Redstone 3 Build 16184 for PC, introduces new My People app

Microsoft intended to include its new My People sharing and communication app in the Windows 10 Creators Update, but had to postpone it because it simply stood no chance of being ready in time.

The revised plan is to include it in the next major Windows 10 update, codenamed Redstone 3, and if you want to take it for a spin, the good news is it is now possible to do so as it makes an appearance in the latest Windows Insider release, Build 16184.
