Yesterday, Microsoft began rolling out the latest feature update for Windows 10. The long-awaited October 2020 Update -- or 20H2 if you prefer -- comes with a number of new features, such as improvements to Microsoft Edge, a refreshed Start menu, new Settings, and better notifications.

Many people said it was impossible to bring desktop Linux to the mainstream, but guess what? Google did it. Yup, thanks to Chrome OS, there are countless people running Linux as their main desktop operating system every day. This is for home use, education, and business. During the pandemic, Chromebooks have been so popular that it can be hard to find one at a reasonable price.

Acer has long been a proponent of Chrome OS, and today, the much-respected company unveils two new machines -- the Chromebook Spin 513 laptop and Chromebox CXI4 desktop. The Spin 513 is a convertible, meaning it can pull double-duty as a tablet when folded. Since Chrome OS supports Android apps and Google Play, it is a very good tablet experience too. It is powered by an ARM processor, which seems to be the future of computing.

The switch to remote working has left many organizations lagging in productivity and revenue due to the deficiency of their remote access solutions.

A new report from Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) provider Perimeter 81 reveals that 19 percent of IT leaders surveyed say they often or always experience network performance and latency issues when using legacy remote access solutions while an additional 43 percent say they sometimes do.

The hybrid cloud model is increasingly used in digital transformation and data storage according to a new report from Trustwave.

Of over 950 IT professionals surveyed, 55 percent use both on-premise and public cloud to store data with 17 percent using public cloud only. Singapore organizations use the hybrid cloud model most frequently at 73 percent or 18 percent higher than the average and US organizations employ it the least at 45 percent.

One of the best things about modern smartphones, is that they pretty much all have excellent cameras. This means you can take a high-quality photograph at any time by merely pulling the phone out of your pocket. Thanks to cloud storage, your photos can be safely backed up without effort too, so you never have to worry about losing them.

As someone who lost their home in a fire once, I prefer everything to be digital and in the cloud. Things I owned like like music CDs, books, and photographs were lost forever. Nowadays, all of that media is safe and secure online. I would never bother putting photographs in a photo album either -- I'd rather view them on my iPad or Android tablet.
