Charles Schwab says no to Windows 10 -- chooses Chromebooks instead
When it comes to get working done, I leverage many operating systems -- Windows 10, Ubuntu, iOS, and believe it or not, even Chrome OS. Google's cloud-focused desktop OS is actually quite capable -- depending on needs, of course. Many things work wonderfully in a browser nowadays, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and photo editing.
Apparently, Charles Schwab has seen the light on Chromebooks too, as the financial company has chosen them for a specific need -- in-person account opening. In other words, the much-respected company did not choose Windows 10 for this project. Sorry, Microsoft!
Microsoft launches beta version of IFTTT competitor Flow for Android

First Android 7.0 Nougat smartphone to be LG V20
LG must know something about its competitors' plans for the next version of Android, because it wants everyone to know that it will be the first vendor to ship a new smartphone with Nougat on board.
The smartphone in question is called V20, and it is the successor to the V10 that LG unveiled nearly one year ago. It will reach store shelves in the coming quarter -- or at least two months from now.
Arxan guards against application layer threats
Cyber attacks are increasingly happening at the mobile and IoT application layer. This allows hackers to bypass server-level security and go straight for the binary code, to steal IP, credentials and other sensitive information.
Attack prevention company Arxan Technologies is launching new features to help guard against this type of threat. These include new and enhanced support for major operating systems and languages, including QNX (a subsidiary of Blackberry) and Apple's Swift programming language, as well as new white-box cryptographic schemes including SHA-3.
Google loses $895 million on moonshot projects
Google’s parent company Alphabet is feeling pressure after the search engine’s so-called moonshot projects have lost the company nearly $900 million in just three months. Alphabet has invested heavily into a number of projects that may or may not even become actual products due to their experimental nature.
The company’s moonshot projects and ideas include self-driving-cars, its superfast fibre internet and smart home technology. Though these ideas may eventually pay off, currently they are costing Google a great deal more than it is earning in sales.
Windows 10 Anniversary update is not driving enterprises to switch
Although 64 percent of enterprises are planning to move to Windows 10 in the next year, tomorrow’s expected Windows 10 Anniversary release from Microsoft isn't proving to be a huge motivator for upgrading.
According to the survey from systems management specialist Adaptiva, 76 percent say the anniversary update is not increasing their sense of urgency to move to Windows 10.

Android 7.0 Nougat could launch on August 5 -- without Nexus 5 support
We waited for an age to find out what Android 7.0 (or Android N) was going to be called -- Nougat, as we all now know -- and the next natural question is: when will we get it?
If the usually-reliable Evan Blass is correct, it might only be a matter of days before the rollout starts. In a tweet over the weekend, the tipster said that Android 7.0 will be released at the same time as the August security patch -- on August 5.
Turns out there was no real last-minute rush to upgrade to Windows 10 for free

Microsoft tightens up Windows 10 security by requiring kernel mode drivers to be digitally signed
Windows 10 will not load unsigned kernel mode drivers, starting with version 1607 of the operating system. This is something that had been announced back in 2015, but is only just being implemented.
The decision was taken in order to improve the security of Windows 10, but Microsoft says that "due to technical and ecosystem readiness issues, this was not enforced by Windows Code Integrity and remained only a policy statement". Now it is a reality, and it's something developers and users need to keep in mind.
Google.com gets safer with HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS)
For any site you visit nowadays, HTTPS should be offered by default. I don't care about the content of the site -- there is no reason to go HTTP only in 2016. Security matters, folks.
Google.com -- one of the world's most popular domain names -- is aiming to get even safer by implementing HSTS. The search giant has recently enabled this technology for the benefit of its users, and it should start paying security dividends immediately.
