Microsoft reveals some exciting new features coming to OneDrive
Microsoft's cloud storage and Google Drive rival, OneDrive, is in line to receive a number of new features, the company has revealed. Personal and business customers are due to gain access to features that will make life easier, including a new Add to OneDrive option for easy file and folder sharing.
Add to OneDrive is a business-centric feature that will be a big help for collaborative work, but home users have a lot to look forward to as well. Key new features include the ability upload files of up to 100 GB in size, and the arrival of a dark mode option for the web-based version of OneDrive, bringing it in line with the mobile apps.
Microsoft enables Differential Sync for all OneDrive file types
Microsoft revealed at last year's SharePoint Conference that it was working on enabling differential sync support for all file types on the company's OneDrive service.
A recent update to the Microsoft 365 roadmap confirms that the company has launched the update now.
OneDrive to get Save for Later and File Request features
Microsoft published the OneDrive Roadmap Roundup for November 2019 on December 10, 2019. The roadmap highlights features that Microsoft plans to introduce into the company's cloud service OneDrive.
The first feature, called Save for later, allows OneDrive users to bookmark files or folders across OneDrive and SharePoint for later access.
Microsoft buys cloud migration tool Mover to simplify switching to OneDrive
With a seemingly endless array of cloud storage services to choose from, you may well find that you want to switch allegiances at some point. Jumping from one service to another can be a pain, but with its purchase of Mover, Microsoft has just made it much easier to make the move to OneDrive.
Details of the deal have not been revealed, but Microsoft is keen for people to use the service to migrate from one several supported cloud providers to either OneDrive or SharePoint.

You see, Microsoft will soon be launching a new feature called "OneDrive Personal Vault" which will allow users to better secure their sensitive files in the cloud. Its brilliance is seemingly in its simplicity -- it is a OneDrive folder with a bank vault icon that requires additional authentication, such as SMS, biometrics, a pin, or the Microsoft Authenticator app. Visually, it should be easy for consumers to understand, which is essential. You can even "scan" documents directly to this special folder using your smartphone camera. Best of all, access to the Personal Vault is restricted after a period of inactivity, forcing a new authentication.

Microsoft is rolling out new features to the mobile version of OneDrive. The company has also announced that it is introducing a new Block Download feature in "late November" that can be used to stop people from making copies of a file or its contents.

Microsoft says NTFS requirement for OneDrive is nothing new, but forgot to tell users
