In a keynote address at Computex 2018, Microsoft introduced a completely new hardware platform: Windows Collaboration Displays. Designed for use in offices and meeting rooms, the displays are touch-sensitive and can connect to Microsoft Azure Internet of Things spatial recognition via built-in sensors.

While clearly related to the Surface Hub, Windows Collaborative Displays have a key difference: you have to supply your own computer hardware. Hook up a computer, and you have digital whiteboard and presentation tool at a fraction of the cost -- although pricing is yet to be confirmed.

I like routers that look the part, but not everyone is fond of the traditional design. A plastic box that lights up and has a bunch of cables and antennas sticking out is not exactly what you might call pretty. However, there are some attractive options out there. ASUS's new Blue Cave, which was just announced today at Computex 2017, is one of them.

Actually, save for the bottom part of the rear panel which houses the ports, I believe that the Blue Cave does not look like a router at all. Yes, it is a big plastic box too, but it has a big hole in the middle and no visible antennas. Looking at it, you might be inclined to believe that it is something else entirely. But, a sleek design is not all that it has, as its specs are pretty attractive as well.

This is not the first "world's thinnest" product that ASUS unveiled today, as the company also introduced the world's thinnest two-in-one convertible laptop, called the ZenBook Flip S.

At Computex 2017 in Taiwan today, ASUS unveiled several new devices including the convertible ZenBook Flip S. Measuring just 10.9mm thick, the 2-in-1 is heralded as the thinnest in the world, and, weighing in at just 1.1kg, it's light as well.

The laptop has a 13-inch screen which features a 360-degree ErgoLift hinge which allows for conversion into a tablet. Starting at $1,099, this is a premium offering from ASUS, and the specifications do not disappoint.

It may be among the best looking, smallest and lightest ultrabooks available today, but the MacBook hasn't quite taken consumers by storm. Fortunately, this means that there is room for competitors to make a splash, which is what ASUS is hoping to achieve with its new ZenBook 3.

Computex 2015 is well underway, and at a keynote earlier today at the Taipei International Convention Center, Nick Parker, corporate vice president of Microsoft's OEM Division, talked up the benefits of Windows 10, and also introduced various new devices designed specifically with the new operating system in mind.

One of the most interesting was the Quanta Compute Plug. This is a mini-PC housed not in a stick, but inside a power adapter.

Today, during a keynote address at Computex in Taipei, Tony Prophet, corporate vice president of Windows Marketing, discussed recent Windows developments including Windows with Bing, relaxed certification requirements, Windows 8.1 Update, Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows universal apps.

He also talked about the value of Microsoft cloud services across devices, and revealed some hugely impressive numbers relating to everything from Office 365, One Drive and Skype to Xbox Live and Bing.

At Computex 2012 in Taipei, Taiwanese PC maker Asus unveiled a new Windows 8 ultrabook design that features a full-sized HD IPS touchscreen display on the "lid" portion of the device. This second screen allows the device to be used as a tablet when the lid is closed, or as a presentation/screen-sharing tool when it is open.

The Asus Taichi is currently a working design, and Asus says the specs are not yet finalized. However, the company says the Taichi will be available in both 11.6” and 13.3” profiles, will have third generation Intel Core processors with 4 GB of DDR3 memory, and an undisclosed amount of SSD-based storage.

Computex is underway in Taipei, and Asus has a slew of mobile announcements we'll get to in other posts today. I'm scratching my head trying to grok the computer maker's cloud strategy, which looks good in this video but far removed from the reality I live in, or you. It's an idealized future of everywhere sync and help holograms that's more Star Trek than today's tech.

But the concept has meaning, and so there's no misunderstanding: Windows 8 plays an important role in Asus' cloud strategy. Microsoft issued Windows 8 Release Preview on May 31 and anticipates new PCs shipping with gold code for the holidays.
